Ibex Ropes

Originally established in 1972 as Special Belt Transmissions in the town of Mossley manufacturing braided elasticated drive belts the opportunity came to develop into ropes and shock cords. In 1979 the growth and promise of this range of products allowed the establishment of Ibex Ropes. The company grew and prospered until in 1991 Ibex bought its main competitor Whitely Products Ltd of Daventry. This acquisition meant that the MoD / British Standard Shock Cord products that Whitely had manufactured for many years came to Ibex, including the famous "Flexten" brand name.

At this time the British Standard for Heavy Duty shock cords only went up to 26mm. With enquiries from customers for larger diameters, Ibex raised the bar and now manufacture up to 32mm diameter shock cords. Having arrived at this size whipped eyes, i.e. POWER BANDS onto the market. Seeing a development to provide a "new technology" end fitting to terminate shock cords the IBEXACTOR was developed and in turn The POWERSPRING was produced. This novel bonded end fitting, which can be made in steel, light alloy or Stainless Steel has given Engineers real food for thought.

Ibex has always been at the front of developments with in-house ideas and also enjoy a reputation of working closely with customers to provide Bespoke Solutions, Fit for Purpose.
