Whitely Products Ltd.
Established in Daventry, Northamptonshire, Whitely Products had a reputation and product range for the long established MoD range of elastic Shock Cords.
Starting life as College Accessories in Mitcham, Surry during 1940 it is probable that they were the first real British Shock Cord manufacturer. It was from these beginnings that they manufactured for the Aeronautical Industry, Royal Air force and Army during World War 2.
The British Standards: 3F70 and 3F71 i.e. Light duty and Heavy duty Shock Cords, were heavily influenced by the input from Whitely Products and are the basis for modern shock cords today.
In 1991 Ibex Ropes bought Whitely from the owner and after about 2 years production was moved to the Ibex factory in Mossley.
